Hi guys,
I'm excited to show you this week's link up with Heather and Heather over at Glitter and Gloss and JustLove.ly things for Mani-Monday!
This idea is in honor of baseball season starting {ok, so I'm a month late!} and our first Co-Ed City League softball game of the season!
I was able to finally try out a look that I had seen all over the internet that always intrigued me, and put my own new spin on it.
I give to you Newsprint nails {The Sports Edition}
Light colored nail polish {I didn't have it on hand, but I can't wait to try this look with a white polish!}
Top coat
Newspaper of your choice (cut in squares that will cover your entire nail with room to spare - I cut mine about 1" to be safe) - for this look I chose a local page from the Sports Section of our local newspaper.
Alcohol pads {or rubbing alcohol and cotton balls work too}
Step One
Paint the entire nail with 2 coats of your desired nail color
{for this specific look, the lighter the polish, the clearer the words will show up}
Step Two
Apply alcohol pad to nail for about 3 seconds
Step Three
Place newsprint on nail {the idea is to place it on before the alcohol has a chance to dry}
Gently peel back the newsprint and repeat on each nail.
Step Four
Apply topcoat. And your done! Quick, and simple!
Helpful Hints
The print of the newspaper will smear, so be careful to lift the paper off, not slide it across your nail {I learned that the hard way....twice!}
Some tutorials out there tell you to dip all of the newspaper in alcohol before placing on the nail. I tried this at first, and it leaves one large mess in the alcohol bowl, and even a larger mess on your nail - so I stuck with applying the alcohol sparingly to each nail.
This look is so fun - and one of the easiest mani's I have done - not to mention it held up through an entire softball game.
I will definitely be doing more of these in the future!
That looks so fun!
